Biography (*source: Resident Advisor):
As a person who digs the past of other artists, find hidden forgotten music, Closet Yi fully understands the importance of the whole archiving process. To preserve the stories of the house music scene happening right now in Seoul, she and her friends gathered up for a year project to publish the book ‘HiJack Your House’ this 2018, and inside it she talks about the way she sees the world, through music, traveling different record shops and underground venues restlessly. She has been working hard for the past 3 years showing her passion towards house music not only as a dj, but also as a party organizer, a writer, and a graphic designer.
In the daytime, she’s a Librarian. Not just a librarian, but she’s a dj librarian that selects and mixes the records at Hyundai card music library. While touching the rarest vinyls kept inside the 2 floor storage space when the sun is up, she turns into a true dj at night making her own reputation for groovy, balearic deep house sets in the best underground clubs in Seoul including Cakeshop, Faust, Pistil, Contra, and many more. She kept her wonky steps ever since, and has been supporting the local scene spinning along with international artists such as Move D, Gerd Janson, Chaos in the CBD, Kim ann Foxman, Denis sulta, Nachtbraker, and the list goes on. Wherever she is plays, she owns the place and persuades the audience into her rhythm and colors. Her powerful but delicate, crisp but warm, fresh but classic mixes are un-replaceable.
She has been also organising club events and parties Inside Seoul's fast growing underground scene, including party C’est qui, which is the same name of her duo dj crew with dj Naone. Making a very successful debut on their first Boiler Room show this March, the girls have been getting the fastest attentions and successfully finished their first Europe debut with the Ortigia Sound System Festival and in Sicily. Also their 4 hour set in Sisyphos, Berlin on the Berlin Pride week Saturday was an unforgettable event during the tour. It is no doubt that Closet's remaining schedules in 2018 which will take place in Hong kong,Beijing, Tokyo, and many other places in and out of Seoul will be the hottest spots to check out in the upcoming seasons.
